2026 KWCC Winter Active: A Day of Dynamic Chess

Warm up your winter with a day of high-energy, competitive chess! The KWCC Winter Active is a one-day tournament designed to test your tactical precision and quick decision-making. Featuring a unique hybrid format that separates the field into an elite Round Robin and a competitive Swiss section, this event offers the perfect challenge for every level of player.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Elite Competition: The top six registered players will battle in a prestigious Round Robin section, while all other participants compete in a 5-round Swiss tournament.
• Active Time Control: With 25 minutes per player and a 5-second Bronstein delay, you’ll experience the perfect balance of deep strategy and fast-paced endgame thrills.
• Cash Prizes: We are proud to offer cash rewards for the top two finishers in the Round Robin and the top three finishers in the Swiss section (with potential for more based on attendance).
• Full Amenities: We provide all the boards, pieces, and clocks. Enjoy free on-site parking at the Rockway Centre and plenty of local food options during the lunch break.
• Official CFC Rating: This is a CFC-rated event. Gain or defend your active rating in a professional, organized environment.

Entry Fees & Registration:

Standard entry is $50. We offer a $10 discount for KWCC members, juniors (U17), and seniors (65+), and a 50% discount for Titled players (FM/IM/GM).
