KWCC 2026 Winter Active: Heat Up the Board

Beat the February cold with a day of intense, fast-paced chess! The KWCC 2026 Winter Active is a one-day tournament designed for players who love the “Active” format. This event features a unique format where the top six entrants compete in an elite Round Robin, while the rest of the field battles it out in a Swiss system, ensuring competitive games for every skill level.

Tournament Details:

• Date: Saturday, February 21st, 2026
• Location: Rockway Centre (Auditorium Room, Basement), 1405 King St East, Kitchener
• Format: 5 Rounds (Top 6 Round Robin; others Swiss System)
• Time Control: Game in 25 minutes + 5-second delay (Bronstein)
• Schedule: Doors open at 9:30 AM. Rounds: 10:00, 11:30, (Lunch), 1:30, 3:00, 4:30.

Entry Fees & Payment Information:

Standard Entry: $50

Discounted Rates ($40): Available for KWCC Members, Juniors (Under 17), and Seniors (65+). Titled players (FM/IM/GM) receive a 50% discount.
