The KW Chess Club is one of the largest and most active chess clubs in Canada. We are a not-for-profit, member-based organization that promotes the game of chess. Learn about our club’s 30+ year history in the community.  The club’s strength is in its membership, and we welcome players of all ages and ability. So if you are just beginning to learn how the pieces move, or you are a battle-hardened veteran of the board – come out and join us for a game of chess!

Club hours:

  • For chess that’s exclusively for youth 8 to 17 years of age, see this link KW Youth Board Game Club
  • All Ages casual chess – Tuesday evenings 6:15pm – 10:00pm (Auditorium, downstairs)
  • Tournament Chess – Please arrive prior to 7:10 pm for tournament registration. Rounds start at 7:30 pm sharp

How to join:

  • You can visit our club for FREE for the the first 2-3 weeks and see if it suites you. If you feel comfortable, and wish to come regularly after, you can then proceed to pay the membership.
  • No signup required! To visit the club, all you have to do is just drop-in. We welcome chess players of all levels and ages. There is no form/registration required to visit the club.

KW Tournament Club Membership Rates:

  • Adults: $60.00 per year
  • Youth: $45.00 per year (8 to 17 years of age, children under 11 must be supervised by an accompanying parent)
  • Family: (Immediate family members living together)
    • Adult + Youth: $60 + $25 for each additional youth

Club Membership Renewal:

3. Within the ‘notes’ section of the E-Transfer, please include your name / the names of the persons being paid for.

We are a non-profit organization.  All money collected goes towards rent, rating fees, creating tournaments, running the website, misc. costs, as well as facilitating special events to come!
